What Alice Forgot Book Cover Re-Design:
2022
Role: Typographic Systems
Systems: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
For this project, I chose to design the front, back, and spine of a book cover while exploring the concept of lettering. I used type as an image for the front cover and emphasized legibility through typesetting techniques such as hierarchy, rags, mixing styles, grids, and line lengths for the back cover. "What Alice Forgot" is one of my favorite books, and the cover was in need of a revamp. To solve this design challenge using purely typography, I refrained from using representational illustrations and instead explored unconventional methods of stretching, blurring, and layering to create abstraction, texture, and patterning. I then juxtaposed the type on the back cover, which follows more conventional typesetting techniques.
